The last thing I noticed observing those I admire most is their unwavering character.
Their thoughts, attitudes, actions, and behaviors were always consistent with who they wanted to become.
I imagine they had bad days just like everyone else.
Yet, when it came to spending time with me, they never let their bad experiences shape my experience with them.
This wasn’t just putting on a face either.
“Faking it until you make it” was not their mindset.
When the people I admired most spent time with me, they transformed into someone who was ready to give me their all.
I admired the people who neglected their own agenda and listened to me.
I admired the people who engaged me and came alongside me in some way, shape, or form.
The people I admired most never wavered from giving me their best, despite how they felt that day.
Is our resolve to serve higher than our resolve to act out our feelings?
Do we allow ourselves to be shaped by our character?
Will we make compromises when our circumstances turn for the worst?
When we look in the mirror will we admire what we see?
I know answering such questions can be difficult but honestly evaluating where we stand in terms of service to others, especially those we love, is worth the effort!
I hope this series has challenged you to evaluate how you can be a friend of the highest quality to those you love. I’m sure you have your own observations as to how others have influenced you.
Feel free to shoot me an email or comment below some characteristics you’ve seen in the people you admire most and/or what qualities you embody as a best friend to others?
God bless you as you go about your day.
