Certified Best Friend Part I B: The Eyes And Ears Of Listening

Now that you have no agenda for someone, you are truly able to begin listening to them with fresh ears.

True listening not only has the absence of waiting to talk/give direction, true listening watches the loved one as much as it listens.

Observing body language well isn’t merely for crime experts and mentalists.

Observing body language can play a vital role in ethically wanting to be a part of someone’s life.

This listening with eyes and ears John C. Maxwell calls “global listening”.

Even when you are the one doing the talking, observing how someone responds with their body. What you see can bring invaluable benefits to transforming your conversation.

Anyone who speaks in front of others regularly will tell you this is a difficult practice, even if you are unafraid of the crowd.

Listening with your eyes raises not only your emotional intelligence but also your self-awareness.

As you observe others, you observe yourself.

The next time you truly want to be involved in someone’s life, try practicing observing their body language as well as your own as the conversation plays out.

Being aware of someone’s body language can make the difference between having an insightful and heartfelt discussion and coming off as arrogant and ill-mannered.
