Investing Wisely
Young finance students are always told to start saving for retirement as soon as possible. Saving for retirement is more about consistency than intensity.
Those who save for retirement on a regular basis, over the long haul, regularly out save their peers who only save in large amounts on an irregular basis.
In the same way, we may feel intense love for our spouses on our wedding day or for our children when they are born, yet such intense feelings can not compare to the daily investments we make of loving Jesus every day.
A foolish investor in the Kingdom of God only denies himself and walks with Jesus on the days he/she wakes up on the right side of the bed.
A wise investor, on the other hand, understands that not every investment has a feeling attached to it. Investing consistently is not about feelings at all but rather about faithfulness.
Applications
Maybe today doesn’t seem like you are investing much in the kingdom of God. Maybe today seems dull and mundane rather than inspiring, exciting or thrilling.
Invest what you have in the kingdom of God anyway!
Regardless of feelings, God honors people who are faithful to Him. If you will consistently deny your own desires and serve God, no amount of joy, no amount of persecution, and no amount of pain will hinder you from fulfilling the call God has placed on your life.
Jesus’ crucifixion was without a doubt an intense amount of suffering. Being the perfecter and pioneer of our faith(Hebrews 12:1-3), Jesus understood this concept of investing in God’s kingdom daily. His life of faithfulness taught Him that no present suffering can compare to what God has for us in eternity(Romans 8:18).
“Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Luke 12:33b-34 NIV
What you do every day will eventually show. If you dare to spend time with God on a daily basis, you will begin to treasure the things of God more and more each day.

Will the treasure of your heart be to serve Him?
