Accepting God’s call and embracing the fact that God chose me is both an honor and humiliating all at the same time.
“‘You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in My name the Father will give you.” – John 15:16 NIV
It’s honoring to think that a holy God chose me of all people to go and bring His message and His Spirit to the rest of the world.
It’s humbling to realize a holy God chose a sinner like me.
I am constantly reminded by God through everyday circumstances that we all have to keep an attitude of constant humility before Him.
Grace can be defined as getting what I don’t deserve. If death is what I deserve for my sins (Romans 6:23) then the very air I breathe is a sign of God’s grace towards me.
In light of God’s grace towards us, we can neither pout nor shout. We can’t live in insecurity because the truth is no matter what we’ve done, God forgave us too. If we can’t pout about our insecurity, we also can’t shout in our pride because our forgiveness was given to us by nothing of our own merit, rather it was given by His sacrifice on the cross (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT).
The truth that God wants to use me to reach the nations isn’t a testimony to me at all, it’s a testimony to a God that can bring beauty from ashes.
God’s call on my life and God’s call on your life isn’t about us at all, it’s about God and His glory.
Bringing Our Gifts To God
When God gives us resources, tools, or talents that amaze people, it’s for His glory.
If God gave you a voice, then sing to the glory of God.
If God gave you a work ethic, serve to the glory of God.
If God gave you influence, use it to grow His Kingdom.
Often, I find myself using the resources God has given me selfishly. My prayer for us all is that we discover our God given gifts and use them selflessly for His kingdom come, not our own.
What gifts and talents has God given you?
- Are you a good student or been blessed with a great career path?
- Do you like to draw or be creative in some way?
- Do you have a message you can share with a friend or two?
- Do you have a heart to listen to what people have to say?
Reflection
Let us take a moment today and bring intention to the gifts God has given us and ponder how we can use them to lift His name higher.
How will you worship the King and use your everyday skills to please Him?
